Exercise can be fun!

Exercise can be fun!

Find something you enjoy and it will be easier to make exercise part of your life

Many people view exercise as being some type of torture and dread having to do any form of physical activity. It is important to know that exercise can be fun; it doesn’t have to be a torture session that you spend all day dreading.

It is important to find an activity that you enjoy. Exercise doesn’t have to be done in a gym, you don’t have to try to desperately understand all the scary looking machines and stress about having an audience. There are so many different ways to exercise, you just need to find the one that you like most.

Here is a list of 5 fun exercise ideas for you to try:

1. Kickboxing
If you dread working out and think that time slows down as soon as you start exercising then kickboxing may be a good option for you. Kickboxing is a great way to get in a full body workout while also having a lot of fun. You will be so caught up in doing the different drills that you won’t even realise you are exercising and the time will fly by. Not only is kickboxing a great workout, it is also a great way to de-stress.

2. Rebounding
Remember jumping on the trampoline as a kid and thinking it was so much fun? Well the good news is, you don’t need to be a kid to enjoy the trampoline. Rebounding (using a mini-trampoline) is a very enjoyable and effective way to get fit, lose weight and tone your muscles.

3. Circuit training
Circuit training makes the workouts a little more exciting than the traditional exercise methods. This is a more fast-paced way to get in an effective workout while focusing on both cardio and strength at the same time.

4. Zumba
Zumba is exercise in disguise! It is a party style workout that brings fun and energy in extra large doses and will get you sweating and burning a ton of calories without even realising it. Zumba classes offer you a total body workout by combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility. Zumba mixes low-intensity moves with high-intensity moves in order to create an interval style workout that is sure to get you sweating.

5. Join a group fitness class
Maybe you are more of a social person and feel that exercise can very quickly get boring. Joining a group exercise class allows you to mingle with other like-minded people who will help push you to work harder than you would on your own. There are many different group exercise classes available all offering different styles of training. Explore, try a few different classes out until you find one you enjoy.

Don’t let yourself become overwhelmed by the idea of exercise. As long as you are making the effort to move in some way, be it a walk, a group exercise class or having a trainer, you are already on your way to a healthier lifestyle.
